Fascia means “band” or “bundle” in Latin. It is a network of dense, fibrous connective tissues composed primarily of collagen. This network of body tissue is found 2mm beneath the skin and forms a protective sheath around every part of the body – big and small – encompassing every bodily system and all organs. The purpose of the fascia is to connect the body, give it shape, and protect the structure. Because fascia appears and connects throughout the body, you might think of it like a tablecloth. Tugging one corner can change the position of everything else on the table. When it’s healthy, it’s flexible, and supple, and it glides. When unhealthy it becomes sticky, and rigid and can form adhesions and constrictions.
Closest to the surface is the superficial fascia, underneath the skin between layers of fat. Then we have the deep fascia that covers the muscles, bones, and blood vessels.

Women tend to have less supportive connective tissue than men in certain areas, such as the butt and thighs. When the tightly packed Collagen protein fibers of the fascia become distorted, fat deposits protrude through, and the weakened connective tissue fibers underneath the skin create a dimpled look in the skin.
Our blood runs through our fascia. Therefore, if you have healthy fascia, you have proper blood flow and circulation. If you have unhealthy, distorted fascia, you have poor circulation and blood flow. You may often have cold extremities, in addition to obvious cellulite, loose crepey skin, or chronic pain.
Think of Fascia as a protective layer that has memory based on repetitive motions. It offers us a layer of protection between the deep, soft tissues and the skin; it offers us the ability to stand or sit down, walk or run, to twist to the left or to the right. When injury happens by simple inflammation or more severe damage, interfering with the ability of the fascia to provide the body with the level of flexibility it usually demands, adhesions form on the thin covering of the fascia. The presence of these adhesions results in discomfort, often as feelings of tightness and stiffness and an inability to perform normal daily functions with ease.
We experience these symptoms, ranging in severity from mild discomfort to severe pain, because the body’s normal range of motion is impeded by the inflamed fascia. This in turn causes normal movements, particularly repetitive ones, to become increasingly difficult and more painful.
From stretchy to stiff depending on its health. It appears throughout the body, and because it’s so widespread, keeping your fascia healthy is essential. The Fascia Reformer can help improve physical performance, cellulite dimpling, reduce pain, increase blood flow, improve fitness recovery, and make your body feel better overall. Additionally, scar tissue is simply collagen that has not healed properly and is thought of as tight balls of fascia and tissue. The fascia reforming process can release this bound scarred tissue.
