Hair Restoration
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is one of the best proven methods for hair restoration.
Everyone is born with an average amount of hairs per follicle, usually ranging from one to five. Thinnig hair is often a decrease in hairs per follicle. This hair growth can be reactivated as long as the follicle is still producing hair. PRP utilizes your body’s own natural means of re-starting hair growth with platelets your blood already produces, concentrated, for an instant jolt of hair restoration magic. When you inject platelet-rich plasma into the scalp, it reactivates “sleeping” hair follicles as they are packed with growth factors and quickly repair the body when an injury occurs.

Platelet Rich Plasma is produced from an individual’s own blood. After a blood sample is obtained from a patient, the blood is put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP from the blood. Each injection appointment requires just one blood draw. The blood is spun for approximately 15-20 minutes. Finally, the “platelet-poor plasma” is removed so you’re left with only the most powerful contenders. Platelets only last a short time outside of the body, so this procedure is fast and efficient. PRP contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The PRP is injected directly into the scalp to stimulate the production of hair growth.
We suggest a series of three or more treatments spaced two to four weeks apart. After the third treatment we will schedule a follow-up visit in one month to assess the patients progress and treatment plan. A treatment every six months is recommended to maintain results.
The PRP injections are placed .25″ apart throughout the area of hair loss. The injections are done with a thin needle. The scalp might be slightly tender after injections. There is no downtime and you can continue your every day activities.
The scalp is a sensitive area. A topical numbing cream can be applied prior to injections. The numbing process will take place while the Platelet Rich Plasma collection is being completed. Needles are required and anxiety can be a real obstacle for many potential patients. However, transparency before and during the procedure as well as having a medical team skilled in patient safety and comfort can help you overcome this challenge.
