3D Areola & Nipple Tattoo

Medical tattoo micro-pigmentation is a non-surgical procedure augmenting breast reconstruction by creating the illusion of a natural, three-dimensional areola and nipple. For women who have undergone mastectomies or may have irregular or fading areola’s, this complex intra-dermal pigmentation and 3D nipple restoration, helps women to recover physically and emotionally from the scars of breast cancer.

Depending upon unilateral or bilateral mastectomy, some women will only require one breast to be matched to natural areola and nipple. Some will require both breast to be treated.

FAQs

In addition to 3D nipple & areola tattoo, use of injectable dermal filler to restore the 3-dimensional contour of the nipple due to loss of nipple projection after reconstruction or nipple sparing surgery can also be performed. This is a simple & non-invasive procedure with immediate and adjustable volume results that positively impact patient satisfaction and well being.
Restorative areola and nipple tattoo are part of the breast reconstruction process. This restorative treatment is federally mandated and covered under the Women’s Health and Cancer Right Act. Even with this mandate and coverage, we cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed. Unfortunately, this is between you and your insurance company. Some private insurance providers will cover all or a portion of the procedure. At your consultation, we will discuss with you the information needed from the surgeon who performed your breast reconstruction as well as your insurance company.

Scar Camouflage

Medical tattoos help to camouflage scars, burns, birthmarks and other skin imperfections resulting from surgeries and injuries. Micro-pigmentation can also be used to break up scar tissue and restore skin color for a more natural appearance. Permanent cosmetics can disguise scars and discolorations from cleft palate, birthmarks, bon-pigmented age spots and cosmetic surgeries including face lifts and tummy tucks. I have even camouflaged a laser tattoo removal that left the area without any melanin in the skin.

The process of medical tattoo micro-pigmentation has been used and endorsed for years by plastic and cosmetic surgeons, oncologists, and dermatologists.
